Customers & Debts

How unpaid sales affect customer debt

Why a sale can deduct stock but still be owed.

A sale can be paid, partly paid, or unpaid. Payment is separate from stock.

The key idea

  • When you record a sale, the stock leaves immediately.
  • If the customer has not fully paid, the unpaid part becomes money they owe you (debt).

Where to see it

  • The Customers page shows each customer's total bought, total paid and outstanding balance.
  • The Debt report lists everyone who owes you, with the oldest debts first.

Example

A customer takes goods worth 10,000 and pays 6,000. The sale still deducts the stock, and 4,000 shows as their debt until they pay the balance.
